New Division!!

Post by Archangelus »

We are opening a new division in PHX for Battlefield 1942. Until it gets up and running with a division leader, I will assume responsibility (no, I'm not leaving SOF2 or UO....).

PHX Members, contact me with a Private Message if you are interested in playing in this division. If things progress, we will look into having our own server, like we do in SOF2.

Thanks Arch!

I really, REALLY love this game.

I have not played it much because its "feels" different than SOF2 and I don't want to mess up my flow in SOF just yet.

But BF1942 will be around for a long time only getting better with each patch. Also the system requirements are a bit steep for alot of people.

So, I know in time, we are all gonna love this game because there's just SO much coolness to the game, especially in a clan!

I mean lets be honest, stalking around in a group of tanks, while your buddies provide air support, all the while trying to dodge artillery fire from a battleship ...

I'd be interested in this...I've got the game, and play it with some non-clan buddies every now and then.

UNDEAD

You may want to reconsider picking up that GeForce4 MX

They are as fast as a GeForce3 Ti200.

Even the Radeon 8500 can spank the MX. (not sure if this is true with the GF4 MX 460)

For a few bucks more you should be able to find a GF4 4200 or a Radeon 9000 pro.

The real reason comes down to lack of features within the chipset. Without going into too much detail, read this from John Carmack, programmer for DOOM III :

"Nvidia has really made a mess of the naming conventions here. I always
thought it was bad enough that GF2 was just a speed bumped GF1, while GF3 had
significant architectural improvements over GF2. I expected GF4 to be the
speed bumped GF3, but calling the NV17 GF4-MX really sucks.

GF4-MX will still run Doom properly, but it will be using the NV10 codepath
with only two texture units and no vertex shaders. A GF3 or 8500 will be
much better performers. The GF4-MX may still be the card of choice for many
people depending on pricing, especially considering that many games won't use
four textures and vertex programs, but damn, I wish they had named it
something else."

Back to XoR not knowing what hes talking about.... listen i have a VR Kyro II. Ever heard of it? If u havent, im not surprised. Its a piece of shit. Heck, its worse than shit. There a very few games that support it. So when some1 is willing to give up a GF4 and all i have to do is pay the shipping and handling, thats a fucking good deal. PLlus, that card is probably like 150$ bucks up North and ill be paying is around 15$. So dont ruin this for me. Once i get a job and make money, ill buy whatevers the best out there.

UM, I have a GeForce 4 MX 440. I love it. Is it the best card on the market? Hell no, but I got it for $100 and it plays pretty much anything I want and makes it look good.

Do what you got to do man!! Get the card, pop 'er in, and get gamin!!

You are all absolutely right.

I admit I was wrong. I sometimes forget that I am willing to shell out $400 on a video card.(yikes) I always make fun of stuff lightheartedly like celerons and the like. So please don't take offense.

I just want people to be happy, and If I have 1 hiccup or jerky blip I get mad. Not everyone is like this.

And don't get me wrong, you'll have fun no matter what you get over a Kyro. (sigh, and yes I have heard of this).

Don't worry UNDEAD, I'm not trying to ruin anything for you. :P I was just suggesting my opinion if you had money in hand to walk into a store (which is what I thought you were going to do).

maybe lemme know which servers y'all play on. my housemate plays this game religiously. i'm not suggesting that he join the clan. but maybe in time, that might be an option.

and ya, i'm thinking of picking it up too...
