More PC Help

Post by Dr.Death »

Well I have more issues with this dam computer. On Friday the SOB started to reboot on me whenI was playing SWG. I could log in and as soon as I started to move my ping would skyrocket and my bandwith would be all over the place. Then freeze and reboot. I would see the windows blue screen of death for about 2 or 3 sec before it would restart. My graphics would also get totally screwed after 3 or time of this.

At 1st I though it was my graphics card, so I tried another one and the problem was still there.

At 1 time, I got a meassage saying that my system has recovered from serious problem and would I like to send error report to Microsoft. I did and it came back that there was problem with my driver.

So, what I have done thus far is totaly tore down the sytem and rebuilt it. I have also reformated my HD and my problem is still there. This is really pissing me off. DOes anyone have any ideas.

is your network card built into your mobo or is it separate....if it's separate it could be that the nic card is dying

well, i am no computer wizard but.. when my machine was acting similarly to this it turned out one of the clips on the fan was not holding the fan in place over the processor and so it was heating up and bam, shutdown! might be worth checking :) also, their can be driver issues with some network cards playing some games.. i remember when i was playing eq2 i couldn't play wow on my machine but my son could play it on his, this turned out to be a driver issue :) check it!!

LMAO. I have been playing for 4rs now and with all the recent changes it become quite enjoyable again.

With reformating my HD, i would think thta would have fixed any driver poblems thta I might have had. I have also tried a video card and the problem is still there. I have given the network card a thought and have a different 1 installed and will be trying that tonight.

Well, its not my Networking Card. Is there a way of checking why I am crashing, since the dreaded bluse screen of death is not there long enough for me to read it?

Strange. The fact that you re-formatted your drive leads me to believe it's a hardware issue. Some things you can try are looking in the event viewer for some clues, mainly red X's. Type eventvwr.msc in the RUN box and look around.

Does this behavior exist all the time? or just playing SWG?

Hmm. If that's the case, has a patch been recently released? One thing you could try is to shut off the BSOD auto-restart. This will at least allow you to write down the stop code and other info when it crashes.

1. Right-click on My Computer and choose Properties.
2. Select the Advanced tab and click the Settings button under Startup and Recovery.
3. Uncheck Automatically restart in the System Failure section.

Post the stop message next time you BSOD and we'll have a look-see.

THANK YOU!

Here it is:
File nv4_disp

The device got stuck in a loop. This could be a problem with the device or its driver.

That would be an Nvidia .dll for your display.

A couple things you could do. Although the problem may be a known issue with SWG and there's nothing wrong with your machine per se.

First, I would uninstall the Nvidia driver from the Add/Remove programs list. Then restart your computer and cancel any plug and play messages from the video card on bootup. Then, install the latest WHQL Forceware driver from Nvidia's website, and restart. Then fire up SWG.

I have just installed the latest drive when I formated last night. I was actually thinking of trying to find an older driver. What do you think?

You're right. You reformatted.

How about your motherboards chipset drivers? Why don't you list each component quick :

CPU:
Motherboard:
Video card:
Sound card:

For the hell of it run the DirectX 9c end-user runtime from Microsoft again. Use the Nov.2007 version.

Otherwise without actually being at your computer, I'm running low on ideas. :(

Hopefully someone has a better answer for ya.
