Activision's nice to be giving this game out.
The official mod that ultimately changes the multiplayer experience of Return to Castle Wolfenstein has become free to download at Fileplanet.com. Not only does it kick ass, but it runs on it's own! Stand-alone program, kickass, and free! Woo!
This takes the tempo from Soldier of Fortune 1, the style from Army Operations, and the character classes from 1942 into one package.
Soldiers capable of using mortar shells to blow excrement up, tossing a smoke target to call in an air strike, FLAMETHROWERS. Medics who can just "throw" boxes of health at allies (and also have needles that instantly kill any enemy), and Field operators who have a kind of-infinite supply of ammo. Engineers who can set up an infinite supply of Dynamite to blow in a few seconds, and covert operatants who can steal the clothing off of dead enemies and walk among them freely (until found out).
My favorite part is that you technically can have infinite ammo, or infinite air strike markers, or infinite TNT, only you have to wait. Next to the selected weapon/tool icon in the bottom right is a bar with a little lightning bolt. Using a health/ammo pack, throwing the strike marker or planting an explosive depletes the bar a bit or completely. Then you need to wait for it to recharge until you can use the special tool again.
There's an Experience system, done correctly! Getting enough XP (by killing or securing an objective) will raise your three different levels. One enhances your skill with guns, allowing one hit kills with even a pistol (something like that, better accuracy). One enhances your covert skill, so you can go slicing away at people without your disguise fading (level 4 covert). And the last is Battle Sense, which not only allows you to see enemies on the mini-map, but also allows you to look though disguises, even increase your maximum health from 100 to as much as 200, among a few other things. Although, once that map is over, you're back to 0 XP.
The gametypes are the standard of most FPS games (DM, LastMan/Elimination, CTF), then like in Army Operations, there are a few Objective and Campaign maps. Objective revolves around one or two key objectives and a task to complete. Such as moving a tank through the streets to get it to a stash of gold and secore it. Then in Campaign, it's Capture and Hold, so far there are only two Campaign maps, and one is a psuedo-Normandy, in which the allies have to capture parts of the Axis base to win, and the Axis need to just hold out for the time limit.
Not to mention the game runs damn well for me; most servers I tried out gave me less than 30 ping. Although seems all the 56Kers did an overnighter to get this game, I see a lot of guys blipping around with 300+ pings.

This game is a refreshment. It has more variety than SOF, more ground war than 1942 (mostly tanks and planes in that game...) and better XP usage than Planetside.
Hmâ„¢, this is the first topic I've posted.

Here is a link to wolfenstein website. Click on Enemy Territory and there should be download links from the standard download sites. I have got this down and installed it. Looks interesting... does look like a blend of SOF2 and BF1942. The Desert CombatMOD for BF1942 is pretty sweet as well with current weapons, vehicles and maps. Of course BF1942 is not free but if you own it this looks like a good MOD.
AHHH, if ya want a laugh, listen to this.
Started downloading ET after i finished with SOF2 last night. Went off watchin tv and killing the 2 1/2 hrs for it to download. Come to find out, someone took the free space i made for the download, and i didn't know till it finished and i lost that one.
Started it back up after blowing off some steam in SOF2, had plenty of space, went to sleep while it downloaded. Wake up, no file on drive and not downloading anymore.
Decided to give it one more try, start the download before i left for school, had my mom watch it this time. Come home, no one was home, check the file, and it was acually there and the right size! Start the install, mom walks in and tells me that it got to 99% and it stays there, she also said my dad said it was corrupt, and guess what. Got about half way and then said it was a corrupt install file. Now i'm getting my friend to download and write it off for me because i am tired of incomplete install files. Needless to say, my computer pissed me off and i'm not going to download anything else myself.
Just felt like takin up some forum space.
