The end of the lean script...for now?

Recent I have seen many enjoying there lil crouch leaning Scripts with the shotgun. Well enjoy it now the updated OSP in testing now fixs the hit box bug you guys are enjoying exploiting. Should be out in the next few days and the Nachos server will be updating as soon as released. Also when this is released I will be adding a cvar check threw Punk Buster that will ban you from the server too. In my and many other server Owners this is a cheat we have tolerated to long so where going to put it to a end. I will post when all have been put in place.

Bout time, get this in and working as quick as possible guys, im' fed up with this script

What if you don't use a script and learn to actually do it? I've learned to do it and am now afraid to do it. I don't use any scripts or binds cause I don't have a clue as what they are or how to use them.

shouldn't be a problem, if it is, you won't be able to do it, simple as that, you won't get banned, only if you have the script, otherwise, the effectiveness of the move is just limited to what it should be, with a corrected hit box

I have seen the OSP fix information about the crouch/lean fix but I haven't seen anything about the PB scan. Here is a list of fixes in the upcoming OSP release.

v0.3f

- add: sv_ospClient cvar (defaults to 1) make it 0 and delete the osp-clientside-0.3-BETA.pk3
file from your server to run a true serverside only OSP server with the 0.3 version of OSP
- fix: shotguns and melee weapons now hit crouched players (crouch lean bug)
NOTE: in order to fix this problem some of the shotgun's stats had to be readjusted, the shotgun
will "feel" different because the hit detection of each pellet is now done like the rifle bullets
meaning that they have to hit the "real" player model (hence fixing the crouch and leaning no-hits)
Also the shotguns will fire innacurately when jumping (like the other weapons)

- add: tracer start distance modifier osp_tracerDistance default:500 (thanks Kris from mandown)
- chg: cg_tracerChance's maximum upped from 50% to 100% for more tracers if your system can handle it
- add: referee chat command, so that referees can talk to other referees

Ive never used a script a day in my life , yet lots of ppl know me for leaning /ducking .

ive heard quiet a few ppl say now it cheat because its using a exploit in the game , which always makes me smile .

next thing you'll be tellin me is that shootin back is an exploit cause it allows me to kill you .

tI doesn't matter if it is a bind or not. I can hold the crouch button down while leaning, how can that be said to be better than a bind to do it. Once the fix is made , hell crouch lean all you want and it should be as any other standing running walking crouchin leaning position as far as ability to hit the person. I am disapointed at the quality players I see doing this, I won't name any names or clans but I will say I have seen 2 people that are in two very popular Clans do it on a regular basis. I have seen it here and on another server last Friday nite on another server by an Admin there (they have the new osp and it has an A by his name so I know it was an Admin) I asked him why he was doing that b-cuz he seems to have the skill not to do that and he refused to acknowledge me, several others in that server let their disdain for the move known, I didn't see it again for the nite. It isn't an accident when it happens repeatedly and out in the open. The people who play alot here on the SoF2 server know those that do it for exploitive reasons. Is it really that important to get the 3 or 4 extra kills to be labeled as someone who would cheat, I think it is a cheat. I was playing the Airport map and I was at the door going into the building I was crouched and leaning over to see into the room when ,ofcourse, I proceded to get my ass shot off by several ppl, we where playin knives and pistols only as there where only 6 or 8 ppl there at the time, well one PHXer said "what is with me using the crouch/lean crap?" and I wasw pretty damned shocked that I was accused of this, turns out he was shooting at me near close range and didnh't hit me once (the other two guys didn't miss me tho) well like I said I was just peeking in the doorway and I explained that this was the case and tho i did know the crouch/lean exploit was out there I am not the type of person to use this...it wasn't an issue after that but it shows how it can be looked at if it is used accidentally but in the middle of a hallway when you come up to some one and the immediatley drop and lean, and it happens from the same person 5 or 6 times....c'mon.......well I don't know my point is ........

wot do you want the guy to do just stand there and wait for you to shoot him .

crouch/lean does not make you invunrable , it just makes you harder to hit , and so it should your crouching and leaning . how many times in the movies do you see the hero roll out the way of gun fire , y becuase it makes him harder to hit . hes not cheating , he just doing wot he has to to stay alive .

do you know how much co-odination it takes to hit the crouch button , the lean button , and then manage to keep yah mouse tracked to your traget , if you think its a cheat then you havent tried doing it effectivly .

You obviously haven't read any of this forum or it doesn't seem to sink in properly. there is a problem within the design of the game that makes it harder to hit someone while they are crouch/leaning that is above and beyond what it normaly should be. That is known as an exploit when you use it to gain an unfair advantage I have a Nostromo speed pad with the buttons i use programmed into it and to hit the crouch button and the lean button and to shoot someone with my mouse is not a problem, b4 you say anymore Shasta perhaps you should READ some more, you can quote that...

Thats good advice , and i had read the OSP 0.3f realse notes before i even wonderd here ,

yup but as the OSP guys have noted the problem was with how the shotgun hits were calculated not with the crouch lean . The AK hits leaners just fine .

how can it be an UNFAIR advantage if EVERYBODY in the whole game can do the same .

It's an UNFAIR advantage because most people don't stoop to the level of " Oh boy mommy! I can focus on the bug in the game to get more kills"

The problem from what I've read was the HEAD bounding box not "leaning" along with the rest of the model. This was being exploited. Yes, EXPLOITED. That's CHEATING in my book.

The "shuffle script" is a whole another story, cause it usually involves aimbots while people are epilepically spazzing back and forth like a crack monkey while pinching off headshots.

It's gonna be fixed, and I'm glad.

this fix will take away the inconsistencies in the hit accuracy , but it will not stop the use of crouch/lean , its still the most effective way to counter a shotgun .

grudge: i apologize, as i think the PHXer you were referring to was me- and whe i made the comment it was entirely sacastic.... i guess you didn't realize that i was joking entirely. (i saw you peek around the corner, and continue to peek so as to reveal your entire body which i shot death).... didn't mean to accuse you of it.
crouch lean is a cheat in my book because:
- i didn't realize that there was actually a game disfunction permitting it to give a character an advantage- therefor i did not use it because i did not know this, much as many other people dont, i'm assuming.
- its just not realistic! who in god's name would voluntarily walk out into the open just to crouch and lean so as to avoid damage. but... people do all the time in the game. this severely detracts from entertainment value of the game.

Well the hell with that! I will never do it at all. I didn't know it was that serious. I thought if I leardned to do it by holding the crouch button and the lean button it would actually be considered a nice little move. But like I said, "I will never use it".

wow Levangles you have a great memory and there is no need for you to apologize we straightend it out right away during the spawn (my spawning) I call someone on it if I see it myself I was just using that as an example of how it could be used as an exploit or can be accidentally used....so it's I certainly had no ill will in my mention of our encounter or towards you Lev, your cool in my book, (I don't have a book but if i did.........)
