if the fan has been dead on the P.S. for awhile there is a very good chance that it damaged the power supply. if you risk replacing the P.S. fan it could fry your whole system. I STRONGLY recommend against it.

What processor, there are AMD recommended power supplies too, I wouldnt recommend using the 300 watt p/s. Go and buy a new 400ish power supply and then once installed, check cpu tempature/hard drive tempature, you may need a case fan, dunno if I recommend Dens fan, but a 10 dollar one wouldnt hurt if your case doesnt have one, especially in the back by the CPU.

My case has 4 Fans and the powersupply has 2 fans, the more stress the program puts on your system the more heat that is generated.

Well I run an XP 2000 and GFroece 4 ti 4600. I tried replacing the fan again by re-wiring and connecting to a lead off the power supply itself. Still no dice. So I ripped open 1 of my 2 computer shells and found a 420watt PS. The 1 I was using was a 400watt. So all is well right now. I should tell you that after I booted up I realized I forgot to plug in my hard drive. I wnt fucking nuts tryind to figure out why it kept telling me to insert system disk and hit enter. I guess thats not as bad as Zarn telling me about how he can't play SWG for 3 days after he formated and I had to tell him to install the video drivers.

the system i use the most has a 300w power using a geforce MX 420 (total crap).. but it plays UO just fine.. but need to restart cpu after about 1.5 hrs of play..... may be a heat problem.... but i also reformat my HD every month just to keep unknown background programs from using up my ram and cpu cycles

and tribes vengence plays awesome on same machine.. go figure

i build computers as a hobby... i enjoy doing it... i usually sell them for just a bit more than i paid for the parts... they all get different parts.. usually whatever is on sale at the time... takes me about 30 min to do

im currently using my crap computer cause i needed to sell my better one quickly to pay for truck repairs.... and i do tend to lag out after extensive game play... but im suprised the games even play at all
