any ideas?
well as of yesterday (8-10-05) I have been distressingly unemployed, not a great situation with the house payment and car payments and a baby on the way. So what I was wondering, hopeing actually, was wether anyone knows of a free online game I can download to play during my situation... let me know if you have any ideas. thanks- Grudge

There are some out there, easily found if you google "free MMORPG" or similar terms. Unfortunatly, I will be surprised if you can find one that will last you more than a week. Usually, the free ones either just really suck, or only let you play a small portion of the game / 14 day trial (which may require your credit card number).
Runescape seems to be the most popular free MMORPG that you can play (popular because I hear about more than others). In a sense, it's kinda similar to Ultima Online. With a free account, you can play only a part of the game, but I have friends who played their free accounts for months. I guess you can check it out if that interests you.
Ragnarok gives you a free trial (I forget how long it is) and doesn't require a CC number. It isn't really all that great, but a lot of people seem addicted to it (even in PHX?!) and you may like it. WARNING! It is extremely cutsy-carebear-creampuff...ish.
Like I said, there's more than a few out there, I doubt you'll find one of good quality. I recommend simply going to EB and getting a used/old game for like 10$. I'm not sure how much Neverwinter Nights costs nowadays, but it is a fairly long game and has a lot of replay value (a bunch of races, classes, side quests, etc.) Plus, there's a ton of fan-made modules that can keep you playing for quite some time. Definetly worth checking out. If you like fantasy D&D/Forgotten Realms stuff.

well thanks for the list, i will check out your ideas and see if any suit me. otherwise I am going to stare into the fridge until I turn my blood into butter by adding as much fat and cholesterol as I can. I think I am already over the legal BBL (Butter to Blood Level). I try to add beer tothin my buttter...er blood but it just slides right thru my system, but dammit I have to try.
